What Are Anti-Wrinkle Treatments?
Anti-wrinkle injections work by temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles. The injection blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles, preventing them from contracting.
By stopping certain facial muscles from moving, it reduces the appearance of dynamic wrinkles (like crow’s feet or frown lines).
What to Expect
Prior to your first treatment, our doctor will consult with you to assess your suitability for this treatment and discuss any concerns or questions you may have.
The procedure involves a small amount of the prescribed product being administered into the selected facial muscle/s using a very fine needle. The injections may sting for a few seconds, but is generally quite comfortable and tolerated by most people. The procedure itself typically only takes minutes!
Results
- Effects are not immediate.
- Initial changes may be noticed within several days.
- Full effects are usually seen after approximately 10–14 days.
- Results vary between individuals but typically last between 3-4 months
Downtime
Most clients return to normal daily activities immediately after treatment. Possible temporary effects include:
- Mild redness
- Swelling at injection sites
- Tenderness
- Bruising
- These effects generally resolve within a few days.
Aftercare
For the first 24 hours, we recommend:
- Avoiding vigorous exercise
- Avoiding rubbing or massaging treated areas
- Avoiding excessive heat exposure, including saunas and steam rooms
- Following any additional advice provided by your practitioner
Contraindications
Treatment may not be suitable if you:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have certain neuromuscular conditions
- Have an active infection
- Have a known allergy to any treatment ingredients
- Are taking medications that may affect treatment suitability
